Did you know that after you graduate from Deakin University with Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science you are eligible for membership of Exercise and Sport Science Australia?

That’s the same degree that James McGeoch studied after he did his Diploma of Health Science at Deakin College.

James’ story

James studied with us in 2009. At the time, his teacher suggested that he try to get some volunteering experience in an AFL club while he was studying, if that was the career he wanted to pursue. That led to him doing an internship at Richmond Football club, and eventually a role at the Melbourne Football Club as the Head of Athletic Development. Today he is the owner of the “Warriors of Wellness” personal training group and Head of Athletic Development at Carey Grammar.

James also shares his expertise with students at Deakin College and Deakin University as an anatomy and physiology lecturer. His advice to current Deakin College students: “Annoy the relevant teachers and encourage them to help you make a career plan!”

He also suggests they make the most of the new state of the art sporting facilities at Deakin.
